So, while I have a recommended diary detailing all of the problems that Sandy is going to cause, I thought this deserved its separate diary. We are about to have an interesting problem with understanding what is going on in the race for the white house...
Why? Because large swaths of people without power for potentially a week in battleground states and the northeast will completely destroy public opinion polling.
This is not limited to landline pollsters either. People will not have access to the web, people will experience trouble with their cell phones, and many people simply will not want to be polled regardless. We may be, right now, looking at the last true national snapshots of this race that we are going to get, and the last state-level snapshots of the race in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and possibly North Carolina and Ohio depending on how far reaching the effects are.
What a weird year.
