I've been a life long news junkie--and I mean, since grade school. Since my father worked in a profession that entailed a "waiting room", he came home every night with all 3 editions of a big city newspaper.
Although I am following events, I can't help but think that, wherever I look, news sites, blogs, et alia, everyone seems to be determined to whip up hysteria.
Because that is their job. You know, the "wisdom of the Market." Get all of us baying at the moon, with our quips ready in our quivers. (I know: "block that metaphor!")
As the ice caps melt, and planet earth explodes in violence, with promises of further violence, we are really more focused on the Giants v. A's aspect than a contemplation of what we are going to do to solve our problems.
It saddens me. There is the brainpower--and maybe even in the USA!USA!USA!, still, to actually solve problems.
But Bread and Circuses will swat that notion away.
