I just saw another recent poll take on where we stand with Referendum 74 the marriage equality initiative here in Wash. State, and again its looking favorable. I just saw a %55-40 rating with 6 % undecided. Things are looking pretty good. In addition, I have seen some pretty powerful ads here in Spokane.
Yesterday afternoon I saw a GREAT one. This lady stated upfront that she was a Republican, but that she supported Ref. 74 because she did not want the government to be able to say who could and could not get married. I love this!!!
What I will be watching the news for later this afternoon, is the Rick Santorum (anti 74 ) rally to be held somewhere in the Spokane area. I suspect its in the Spokane Valley, which is very very red, but I could be entirely wrong. Last I heard the pro-74 forces had raised a HUGE amount of money in support, compared to the anti 74 forces....
So things are looking favorable as of now, and I really at this point, would be really surprised if this initiative fails. Fingers will stay crossed.
In other Wash. State politics, I am looking forward to the first debate between challenger Rich Cowan (D) who is taking on incumbant Cathy McMorris Rogers (R) for the 5th Cong. District, tonight. Cowan, the former CEO of North by Northwest pictures, has had a rather slow start for some reason, and only within the last 2 weeks has he aired his first campaign ads. Tonight the first debate will be televised locally through PBS. McMorris Rogers would only agree to two debates total. So Cowan really needs to be on the attack tonight. I see McMorris Rogers as EXTREMELY vulnerbale in the areas of Medicare, and jobs. The local economy in Spokane is not good, better than the outlying areas, but not good city wise. I have not seen or heard any polling on this race just yet, but I am sure McMorris Rogers has the lead. Sad.
Seeing LOTS and LOTS of Inslee and McKenna attack ads back and forth now locally. This is for the Gov. of Wash. Inslee the Dem., last I heard had about a 7% lead in the polling over Repug. McKenna. Bill Clinton has already been in Seattle at least once fundraising for Inslee. Thank you Bill! Inslee has lived on both sides of Wash. State, so I will be watching the polling from over here, although I expect McKenna to take the eastern side vote.
The polling for President,in E. Washington, I found interesting. This was pre-debate, but had Obama and Romney tied at 44 % points each. That says alot about how Eastern Wash. does or does not like Romney I think.
I am looking forward to the Vice Presidential Deabtes on Thurs. and hope Biden is in attack mode. I know we are ALL looking forward to the next Presidentail debate as well. President needs to get his mojo back. I want to hear a FIRED UP AND READY TO GO OBAMA at that debate....on to victory in Novemeber, because I could not imagine a President Romney being sworn in. I may have to pack my bags and head to beautiful British Columbia, Canada, just north of me..
11:37 AM PT: Just got an e-mail update from the pro-marriage Ref. 74 camp. They said that NOM has just transferred $400,000 overnight to the anti-Ref. 74 camp. Not good, so the battle is still on.
