The reason why I'm writing this diary is because I'm issuing a call to action for probably one of the most important rallies the Democratic Party, Kos diarists and viewers and unions can be aware of this election season.
You may or may not be aware but Rep. Darrell Issa has sponsored H.R. 2309, the Issa-Ross Postal Reform Act, which is written apparently to address the problems the U.S. Postal Service is facing today. A number of key points are highlighted per the House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform's "Saving the Postal Service" website:
http://postal.oversight.house.gov/
• Mandate USPS cut costs in line with declining revenue, and give USPS the freedom to do it
• Direct USPS through a comprehensive, nonpolitical realignment of its costly excess infrastructure, making sure it’s fair to small and rural post offices
• Eliminate costly regulations and end Congressional micromanaging
• Ensure taxpayers won't be left holding the bill if USPS leadership fails
• Help USPS cut costs and structure payments, while not letting USPS default on any of its obligations
Now I haven't read the bill in its entirety but from what I understand, it goes too far and doesn't really fix the US Postal Service. Instead, in my view, it makes the situation worse and will make the postal service a tragedy of epic proportions. Turning the US Postal Service into a more private company is just another excuse for Darrell Issa to really not care about government nor having any interest in becoming an inclusive Congressman. However, millions of Americans still rely on the postal service and use it because it's inexpensive and doesn't require so much logistics when you're trying to deliver your mail to your loved ones, friends and acquaintances.
Here's the video of the rally yesterday:
In case any of you are unaware, this is Darrell Issa's Vista, California office. As it turns out, Darrell Issa did not show but yesterday I got this e-mail from Charles Dodson, Jerry Tetalman's campaign manager.
Michael:
Issa was nowhere to be seen, but his legislative aide, Laurant, did come out and invite two postal union execs to meet after the rally. That's a first! It was Mike Evans and Kevin Cole from APWU Orange County. Our videographer was following, so hopefully we'll get something from that meeting posted later today.
Charles
I also got this e-mail from Mr. Dodson a few days ago:
I based the number on a projection based on the number from the last protest we attended there, around 200. That event was just SD CO nurses union folks: This is union postal workers from 3 big counties!
Jerry Tetalman recently spoke at the Postal Employee Union APWU in San Diego:
I was thinking this could be a perfect story for MSNBC to cover, particularly Ed Schlutz seeing as his coverage on worker rights, unions, etc. is outstanding.
So far, I haven't been able to find the contact information of Ed Schultz or his staff on MSNBC but I have been able to find the contact information on the website for Ed Schultz's radio program:

Thu Nov 01, 2012 at 10:46 AM PT: I just got the video of the rally! Enjoy!
For those in the 49th district, stop posting comments here on skepticism and start volunteering for the Tetalman campaign. Your time is wasted when you could be using that time to do phone banking, canvassing or shaking up an Issa/Romney supporter with new insight (even as difficult as it is to talk to these people).
If any of you have an area in the 49th district you want covered for grassroots campaigning, let me know and I'll inform the Tetalman campaign. You can also report any Romney or Issa support in your neighborhood by the following contact information:
