I'm now officially sick and tired of hearing "fiscal cliff" on NPR, seeing it online and in newsprint.
It's as if it's supposed to be something akin to a "Superstorm" or a "Tsunami."
It's not.
So I'm opening the floor to suggestions for re-mem'ing this phrase.
For example, it could be the "Budgetary Bollocks."
Though that is still a sort of victimless, passive-voice, plausibly-denied verbal construction.
I say we get the right modifier(s) in. For example, "Congressional Cliff."
