I count just 10 states that are even remotely competitive. In order of electoral votes we have:
FL 29
PA 20
OH 18
NC 15
VA 13
WI 10
CO 9
IA 6
NV 6
NH 4
Actually, I rate only 7 of these as really competitive. YMMV.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to pick the exact states that Obama will win. (Please ignore the possibility of splitting either Maine or Nebraska.) The earliest correct submission is the winner. You may submit more than one entry, but only the last one counts. If nobody picks the exact winner, well, that's just too bad. The winner will receive an all-expense paid one week tour of Mississippi with Rush Limbaugh. (This is contingent on my convincing Rush to pick up the tab.) Second prize is, well, you know.
Just submit your entry in the comments. List the states Obama will win, and give the EV totals for both. For the arithmetic challenged (i.e., Republicans), you might wish to use an interactive electoral map. All entries must be timestamped before November 6. You might also want to visit Nate Silver's blog. If you don't already have that bookmarked, you probably don't belong in this contest.
I'll start the ball rolling with my own entry: PA, OH, VA, WI, IA, NV, NH. 294-244, Obama winning. (I would appreciate it if you don't ridicule my entry. I am very sensitive about these things.)
I will announce the winner in the community diary "New Day" which will be published at 10:30 AM EST on Wednesday, November 7. If the electoral vote of any state is undecided at that point, the winner might be announced in a later edition of "New Day".
Note: The contest is null and void in the event Rmoney wins. Heaven forbid.
