I am tired of this election cycle. I am tired of doorknocking, phone banking, political ads, lies, distortions, debates, everything else political. I have been walking around with feeling like I have an orange in my stomach for weeks, waiting for the news of Barrack Obama's reelection. I also wait to hear the fate of my local candidates I have been working hard for.
I am tired of diaring the next big republican outrage, I am tired of commenting jokes and jabs about the Romney campaign's ineptitude.
Tomorrow, no matter what Nate Silver writes, no matter what my fellow commentators here at Daily Kos write, I will be a nervous wreck. There will no expectations of useful information until evening. The early day story line will be filled with the candidate's whereabouts and the typical election day cliche. By 9:00 AM I am sure i will start hearing the press somewhere report:
"Incredible turnout in Precinct B in the town of Genovia...."
Election election day coverage has always been bullshit. There is always a heavy turnout somewhere. Somewhere somebody runs out of ballots. Somewhere the lines stretch around the block. (Except this time it might be intentional). The Super Pacs are trying to drop their last ads to burn their remaining corporate money. You will hear for the 599th time what a "Failure Obama" was.
So, after I drop my kid at school, and vote, I am going to so something I haven't been able to do for about 4 months. I am going to close my computer, turn off my TV, and take a walk.
I am going to sniff the cool Fall air and crunch my feet on some leaves. I am going to start work on my personal fitness program. I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter willing and able to ride her bike with training wheels any where I go.
After about 6:00 PM I will turn the TV news back on, I will then shower and get ready to party with my fellow Democrats!
