The stories are out telling how shocked Romney was at losing the election. He based his whole campaign on a voter turnout model that wasn’t close to the electorate that actually turned out.
How does a campaign fail on such a fundamental campaign function? Was it the grossest incompetence or the grandest delusion? Was it a lie they told themselves to feel good?
The more I think about it, the more I seem lost for answers. Nothing seems to explain it satisfactorily. How do you get to election night and lose 332 to 206 electoral votes and not have a concession speech ready? How divorced from reality are you when that happens?
I can forgive supporters for being so divorced from reality that they believed Romney would win. But Romney should have known there was a very good chance he would lose. The fact that he didn’t, for whatever reason, incompetence, delusion, or conceit, testifies that he was not fit to be president.
It is a frightening thing to contemplate...that a man divorced from reality to such an astonishing degree was put before the electorate.
