I don't get it. I mean I understand that for some anti-choice activists, abortion is against their religious belief. But I have never believed that most conservatives really want more babies in the world just to save them. So what is the real motivation and drive behind the anti-abortion movement?
Let's discuss below the orange squiggle..
My main point of confusion is that the same conservatives who claim to want to save every fertilized egg do not want
*babies born to single mothers (criminals in training)
*more black and brown babies (future Democratic voters and moochers)
*more poor babies (moochers in training)
*babies born to teens (criminals and moochers to be)
So what gives?
One theory is that anti-abortion activists want to end abortion among white women who have a lower birth rate than other groups. That way, whites could regain their demographic advantage. But the type of legislation anti-choicers support mostly harms low-income women and women of color.
Another theory is that it's not really about the children, but about controlling women's reproduction. Now that seems a bit more plausible. After all, a lot of conservatives see Roe v Wade as the beginning of America's moral decline, the end of patriarchy and traditional family structures. But this theory seems to abstract to me.
So what is your theory? Has anyone researched this? I just don't understand the passion and the success of this movement.
