I'm surprised that this wasn't mentioned in some of the diaries, but just after LaPierre's 'speech' today, and as he was walking away, a reporter shouted out "What about the police officers in Nebraska that were shot and killed by that gunman?" LaPierre turned around and said "Well, they should put armed guards in all police cars, too!"
OK, I don't do snark very well, but once we start arming schools, where do we stop? Armed guards in all movie theaters? Grocery stores? An armed guard on every corner? Geez, we can't raise taxes to hire more teachers, police or firefighters, but apparently we can spend the billions it will take to put an armed guard everywhere. Then we'll have to spend another few billion to hire armed guards to watch the armed guards. Then we'll have to spend billions to provide mental health exams and screenings after the inevitable shootings by the armed guards who kill some rude teenagers who mouthed off to them. Where does that route end? Wouldn't it be easier, not to mention cheaper, to just stop selling assault rifles and limit the magazine size? I'm a gun owner, but the LaPierre route is just madness.
