As some of you may know from my (very scarce) previous diaries, I am a relatively recent graduate and longtime employee of Eastern Michigan University.
Back in 2009, Eastern briefly made national news when we were sued for dismissing Julea Ward from her counseling program for refusing to treat a gay patient. A little background to the story can be found Here and a slanted, fox news version Here .
Eastern has contended that they were simply following ACA guidelines and not making a judgement on Ms. Ward or her beliefs. After suing and having her case thrown out, Ms. Ward appealed her case and the 6th circuit court remanded the case. Eastern has filed a petition for a rehearing. The appeals court ruling can be found Here . Eastern has a nice site devoted to the case Here . Ms. Ward is being represented by the (shocking, I know) conservative Alliance Defense Fund
