Many people think of quilts as grandmother's traditional design and are used as a comforter on the bed. Others think of the fabulous Amish Quilts with the bold colors. Quilts today can have a wonderful traditional design but many have unique designs used as blankets, wall hangings and even used for clothing. I have attended various Quilt Shows and would like to share photos of these beautiful quilts with the DK Quilt Guild and fellow Kossacks. These quilts are works of art. To me these artists/quilters use fabric & thread instead of canvas & paint.

DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
Last Spring, I attended a fundraiser and a local quilter was the main speaker. Her name is Alex Anderson; she had wonderful quilts and her speech was fun & lighthearted. Alex had a show on HGTV, written many books, has an internet site and is well known among quilters.

I was inspired and enrolled in a beginning quilting class and my obsession began. I’m very lucky living in the San Francisco East Bay Area, because there are tons of quality quilt stores, excellent quilters and many quilt guilds. Quilt Guilds have speakers and workshops. A new quilter can learn many techniques from the guild members. I joined a local Quilt Guild, became a DK Quilt Guild member and attended many quilt shows. I have met many wonderful quilters. Women & Men enjoy this wonderful hobby. They are generous with their knowledge and very kind to this novice quilter.
Other quilters may agree that part of the fun is choosing fabric and deciding how you’re going to use it. Will the quilt be traditional or very modern? Fabric styles are varied: floral, solids, geometric, novelty, batiks, etc. The options are limitless for quilts.
This diary will show that the quilting world is very diverse and creative. I am sorry that I don’t have all of the quilters names for the following quilts. All photos are mine and anyone may use/borrow/steal any image.
