Mitt Romney campaign: We had nothing to do with this.
It's a total coincidence that Mitt showed up.
Hahaha:
#Romney official: "The campaign had nothing to do with" decision to hold event at nearly empty Ford Field. (1/2)

It wasn't our fault! Hell, we didn't even put the event on Mitt's schedule. He just showed up. (Perhaps muttering something about trees and domestics and Cadillacs?)
But it gets better hahahahahahahaha:
Detroit Econ Club originally planned to hold speech in stadium's atrium, but moved to field citing "security concerns." (2/2)
— @PeterAlexander via web
Yeah, they were so worried about security that they decided to move the event from an enclosed, controlled space ... to the middle of a 65,000 seat empty stadium. And Mitt Romney's campaign had no influence over the matter at all. M'kay.
2:45 PM PT: The Detroit Economic Club doesn't accept the Romney campaign's claim, saying Romneyland "approved" and "concurred" on the Ford Field venue. Real classy of Romneyland to blame the hosts when obviously they could have easily declined the invite, isn't it?
2:59 PM PT: Now they are saying the Secret Service forced them to hold the event on the field:
Romney campaign &Detroit Economic Club say Secret Service rejected planned location of speech in atrium, had to move to empty playing field
— @KellyO via TweetDeck
Perhaps the Secret Service had concerns about the atrium (we'll never know), but there's no way the Secret Service told them they had to have the event in the middle of an empty field. I'll guarantee 100 percent that that's a flat out lie. They could have canceled the event or found a different venue.
