The Daily Bucket is a place where we post and exchange our observations about what is happening in the natural world in our neighborhood. Bugs, buds, birds - each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

There's chickweed blooming in the neglected flower pots on the front porch. Fact is, I've never jotted down the date of the initial chickweed bloom, so let this be a first for comparison in later years. Other weeds are beginning to stir around the yard. Dandelions greens are at their best right now, if you're looking to eat some. Pale green, tender and not too bitter. I'll deal with their taproots later.
I think of my 36 year struggle against the buttercups as the Clone Wars. Every single plant that I was too lazy to pull last summer has rewarded me with a dozen runner family members. They've taken over parts of the damp garden. I will curse and grumble as I pull them out - again - this spring.
Your turn.
