I am completely assuming that this guy is a Republican... but he certainly shows all of the signs starting with narcissism and a .45 cal pistol.
I am a 42 year old father of three (22, 20 and 5)... I don't claim to be perfect but that dude is a childish prick. The only thing he accomplished with that video was to show people what an ignorant fuck of a father he is.
First of all... showboating to her friends and all of their family (I assume) on their facebook page - and really the world now - did nothing but alienate his daughter. He didn't teach her anything of substance at all. He taught her that she can anger him by venting frustration on her facebook. He did nothing but validate her opinion of him and she will gain validation from all of her friends after that gross display of immaturity on his part.
A real parent doesn't need to bully their kids in this way. A real parent wouldn't even be in this situation because they would have raised their kids with work ethic and the desire to achieve on their own through supporting their individuality.
My oldest kids certainly went through normal teenage angst. Teenagers rebel against their parents as a natural course of learning to be an individual. What is most important for a parent to do during that period is not to demagogue and act like an asshole... but to remain calm, talk to your kids like they are the adult you want them to grow up to be. Explain the options they have and the reasons you would choose a certain course of action... and leave the decision up to them. If they make the wrong decision - talk to them about why it was the wrong decision without being critical. "So I learned that this happened... if you remember, we talked about that and it's ok that you made a mistake... We all make mistakes. What's most important is that WE learn from this experience and make a better decision next time.". They may not like you to even talk to them about it... but the next time they have to make that decision they will remember that conversation and even if they make the same mistake... eventually, with maturity, they will take your advice. I have seen it happen... I have visceral proof.
Now... let's get to the whole "I am a badass Dad who got super pissed cuz you dissed me on facebook... so now I will use my gun to shoot your laptop like a giant douche... because it makes total fucking sense to make a child think about you with a gun when you are pissed and that the way to react to things like this are to shoot shit with a gun". Everything about that stupid shit is wrong... way to fucking win over your daughter douche-dad! Just seeing that shit pissed me off.
UPDATE: By request, I will describe the video below.
Basically, this guy is fixing his daughters computer and finds a rant that she posted on her facebook page about doing chores around the house. In the rant, she says that she feels like they are treating her like a servant and that they should pay her for doing the chores. She had hidden the post from her parents so that only her friends could see it. Basically, normal teenager/parent angst kind of things.
He got really pissed off about the post and decided to create this video where he reads the facebook post in it's entirety and then berates her about how lazy she is and how he is going to punish her. He explains that she had done this type of thing before and was grounded for 3 months for it. He then says to her that he had considered putting a bullet through her laptop at that time. He says that he is disappointed and then tells her that she is not going to see her laptop anymore. He then pulls out a .45 pistol and shoots her laptop 9 times with hollow point bullets - which he explains cost him $1 each and that she is going to pay him back for the bullets and the repairs he had made to the laptop... and then says she won't have a computer anymore unless she buys it herself.
He ends the video with "I hope you have enjoyed your little fiasco on facebook and I hope it was worth all of this".
EDIT: I just want to point out that I am assuming that he is Republican because so many Republicans that we know have posted this on their facebook with comments like these:
"Awesome job dad!!! I hope a lot of kids see this and realize it could be them next"
When I replied to one of them in comments they said this:
hes from texas you fucking idiot they have guns like they have dogs. people like you are the reason that the usa is so fucking messed up. people like you are the reason family is fucking messed up. what do you think shes is going to make her daughter do? just sit around ND FUCKING DO NOTHINg.
So... based on the people I know who are posting the video and the people that are making positive comments... I can only assume that he is also a Republican.
