The keypad is mightier than the sword
I thought I would devote tonight's spot to the world view of the GOP, RedStaters and the Wingers.
I was fortunate enough to have a 10 year college career and loved the atmosphere of learning, questioning and curiosity. And from as early as I can remember I have tried to understand the conservatives point of view. I really do get many of their points (overspending, personal responsibility, those who take from the state unnecessarily and the defense of freedom), but I simply don't understand the the choices they make to pursue what they believe in.
I am tired of the defense of corporations, the wealthy and of those who are doing just fine thank you.
So I devote tonight's poetry to the RedStaters, below the fold
Remove Yourself
Remove yourself, remove yourself, you're squatting on our land,
with your ragged tents and dirty clothes,
and your rowdy shouts and your angry prose,
This is getting out of hand.
You think these are yours, these Capitol steps, where you shout your life away
You thought your taxes paid for the right,
To express your will and to stand and fight,
But you can only protest here when you pay.
It's only a fight when you argue back, its not a protest then
It's a rabble, a crowd, a noisy mess,
That's how we report it to the press,
And then we send in the pepper-spray men
You are Occupy, you don't own, you don't belong
You didn't pay for the right
To stand and shout all through the night,
You're little more than an irritant throng.
You link your arms and sink to the ground,
You seem to have a point to make
But you've made one serious mistake
You've placed your dreams on our burial mound.
Remove yourself, remove yourself, you're squatting on our land,
We can't see you, can't hear you and don't agree
Go back to embracing apathy
And don't forget we 1% when your ballot's in your hand.
Fear, Anger and Support
You fear the gays, you fear the blacks
You fear the social currency - tax!
You fear the drugs, you fear the porn
You fear for the life of the vestigial unborn.
So be angry at the gays, they'll lead you astray
And be angry at the blacks, draining welfare away.
So be angry at the government for taking your cash
And be angry at people for smoking the hash
So be angry at the peddlars for the vice of a nation
And be angry at the mothers for choosing termination
Enthusiastically embrace the military mights,
And campaign for the 1% in their fights
Defend the companies and their corporate rights,
For these are the GOP's sacred rites
