The Orlando Sentinel has obtained court documents pertaining to the domestic violence accusations made against George Zimmerman by his ex-fiancé. A protective injunction was obtained by the woman against Zimmerman from the court in 2005.
The details are up on the Sentinel website, and at this time the facts are sketchy, as the story is developing. Three facts in the story jumped out at me immediately.
First,
The ex-fiancé also reported that Zimmerman had "open handed smacked" her in the mouth in 2003, and had groped her sexually against her wishes in 2002.
So here we have legal testimony that Zimmerman engaged in violence at least 3 times in the period of time prior to his murder of Trayvon Martin: once in 2002, once in 2003, and once in 2005.
Secondly, the ex-fiancé stated in her petition that Zimmerman seized her cell phone:
The woman reported that Zimmerman had appeared at her home and became upset, grabbed her cell phone and shoved her. A "pushing match" ensued, the ex-fiancé said, during which her dog bit Zimmerman on the cheek.
There has been much speculation on this board (and others) as to the role played by Trayvon Martin's cell phone ion all of this. May I suggest that George Martin seized it as Trayvon frantically tried to call 911; apparently Zimmerman's done it before.
Thirdly,
Zimmerman filed his own petition the day after his ex, in which he claimed that she was the aggressor in the fight.
So, Zimmerman has instigated fights before where he accused the victim of being the aggressor. Again, this is the exact same modus operandi he's using in the Trayvon Martin killing.
