When you write a law that says people can go 70 miles an hour, then some people are going to consider that a minimum speed. Nothing to be done. When you write a law that says you now a have a RIGHT to use deadly force to protect yourself or others from serious harm, with no responsibility to reduce the likelihood of deadly violence, then some people are going to think they have a right to shoot someone anytime they think there is trouble.
Is this like the traffic laws? No, we need traffic laws, but we don't need these laws. There has always been a clear legal right to self-defense. We need to repeal these laws, so that people are appropriately wary of using deadly force, and the states can successfully prosecute those who use deadly force without appropriate justification.
This is especially true in our nation, where the number of armed citizens outnumbers our official Armed Forces by literally tens of millions.
