Didn't see a diary on this so here we go. I emailed Pacific Power the other day after reading jamie ahmad's diary Rush Advertisers in Portland, OR and let them know how disheartened and offended I was to see them on the list of local advertisers for Rush's show. Today I got this response:
I am the advertising manager at Pacific Power, and it is our general media
placement policy to stay out of programming that is either controversial or
extremely negative. However, you are correct, our recent media buy did include
his program -- which was an oversight on my part, not realizing the day part and
station we were purchasing included this program. We adjusted our media buy
earlier this week (March 5), as soon as we realized the error.
Again, I do appreciate your concerns and for contacting us.
Props to Pacific Power for doing the right thing.
Keep up the pressure on the local advertisers. Many of them have bought package deals and don't even know they are advertising on Rush.
