Sanal Edamaruku, an Indian skeptic, exposed the reality and science behind a fake miracle at a Catholic Church in Mumbai. He now faces arrest for Blasphemy for refusing the demand of the local Catholic powers that be to retract his statements.
It seems that there was a "weeping crucifix" which the local Catholic Church was touting and promoting as miraculous and which many suckers came daily to see and collect "holy water" from. When Sanai exposed the miracle as simple capillary action from a nearby drain and accused the church wallahs of miracle mongering, they demanded a retraction and apology backed with a threat of having him busted for Blasphemy if he failed to comply with their demands. He didn't and they did.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The greatest and most heinous sin is still to challenge or debunk church dogma, even if it is clearly fakery. Welcome (back) to the middle ages.
