This was my first computer. I bought it for the kids because I had done some reading about these computer things and thought they contained the wisdom of the ages.
Upon opening, I discovered that the 64 contained absolutely nothing. The floppy disc had not been marketed yet, so I basically (pun intended) had bought an empty box.
I discovered that there was a cassette tape drive, but at the time there were no available programs, which meant that you had to write your own in basic or copy machine language gibberish line-by-line and save it to tape.
So, I learned basic and spent hours of fun with the fam writing a role playing game. Then I got a job and made some money with computers.
And that is how I got into computers.
Thank you, Jack. R.I.P.
