My friend and fellow Kossack John Good, is running for Indiana State Representative from Fort Wayne, IN-83. Everybody who blogs like we do can point to one person who made them think, "Hey, maybe someone does give a crap about my point of view!", and John was that person for me. If he hadn't cross-posted one of my rants from here, I may not have ended up blogging, for good or bad. (Mostly good) He's perfect for the district, already getting the endorsement of IN AFL-CIO.
You can read more about John at his website here. It's a long way until November, but John's got a few expeneses coming up to get him on the way to Indianapolis. If you can, consider making a donation to his campaign via ActBlue here or Pyrix here. I don't have much (as ya'll well know) but I'm going to make it a priority to help John all I can. Every blogger should sponsor someone running for State seats, seed the garden and watch 'em grow!
This is without a doubt one of those "build it from the bottom up" opportunities, where else do the Democratic House Representatives come from if not Dems in State Houses? John is extremely electable in his area (the incumbent in this district was a co-sponsor of Indiana's right to work for less legislation), and this is the year that we could get John and many progressive Dems on their way to Washington D.C. by way of every State Congress.
This is truly one of those moments when even a fiver makes a big difference. If you don't have it, go find out who your local Dem is running for State seats and get involved. Hey, the Ronulans are waay ahead of us!
ADDED- Oh, and if you know anyone or have relatives in the Ft Wayne area, make sure you let them know about John, all the info is at his website. Also too, here is his Facebook page, Twitter handle is @pontio.
