Wow! Could The Heartland Institute dig itself a deeper hole? They are going beyond the pale. For years they had hid behind a curtain of 'respectable' sponsors who supported their endeavors without really understanding how radical and harmful their non-science ideology really is. But in February of this year scientist and water expert Peter Gleick of the Pacific Institute was able to secure internal documents which revealed that Heartland had grand plans to try to indoctrinate school children into their climate change denial campaign and he was also able to secure the names of major financial sponsors.
Since the release of the internal documents, climate activists have initiated a campaign to inform Heartland's sponsors of the documents and have been successful in persuading many to withdraw their support from Heartland. To retaliate Heartland set up this electronic billboard which was so controversial it had to be removed within a few hours and has been responsible for Heartland losing many more sponsors.
Now they are digging deeper with this letter from Joe Bast, president of Heartland calling Bill McKibben and Michael Mann 'madman'
This is what desperation looks like. It couldn't happen to nicer guys.
