So I woke up this morning and as usual the first thing I did was to blindly swipe my arm at my bedside table to snatch up my smartphone to see what's going on in the world. Yes I realized it was 8am on a Sunday morning and most likely nothing had broke yet, but it's force of habit.
After a quick stretch and cleared the sleep from my eyes I focused on the phone. The first headline I read was, "Wisconsin recall: DNC's Debbie Wasserman Schultz sees no national impact if Democrats lose"
WHAT?!? Are you serious Congresswoman?
While I was happy to see the DNC finally putting some action behind their words this past week, I think they underestimate the gravity of this Recall. If Scott Walker and his "contributors" (or owners) take this election it could very well seriously demoralize all the good people around the nation that fight day in and day out for what is just. And worse it will embolden the extreme right and their financial backers in a way that is even worse than it is now. This is nothing my friends, they will push for full on fascism.
In the words of Benito Mussolini: “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”
Of course that is one interpretation of fascism, but since it's from a dictator who identified himself as belonging to that political ideology it makes a strong case to where we could be heading.
This recall is no joke, no election should be taken lightly. Just look at 2010 and where we are now, attacks on workers rights, the poor, women, the middle class continues to crumble under income inequality and upward mobility is in the pits. It goes on and on. But not one real jobs bill to help those of us struggling out in the real world. And as I said before, it will get worse if the recall is lost.
The national Democrats need to get their act together and quick...
