I have confidence in the extraordinary work done by thousands and thousands of ordinary Wisconsinites. I have confidence in the analysis that says there are more than enough votes out there for us to get this weekend. I am confident that the right people at the right time are making this happen.
This is the final weekend. This is the weekend it all changes. This is the final push to push him out. And we are doing it. We are doing it in Madison. In Green Bay. In Oshkosh. In La Crosse. In Black River Falls. This is one of the most superbly organized campaigns ever.
Things are shifting in the right direction. I've been able to sit in on some strategy meetings and there's a lot of good news in terms of votes out there that will easily put us over the top.
Jenni Dye is why we're going to win. Jenni Dye was trailing the long time conservative incumbent the day before the election. Jenni Dye was written off as wishful thinking by Scott McDonnell (Dane County board chairman). Sure he really wanted to get rid of Jack Martz. Martz who had held up everything Scott McDonnell wanted to get done. Martz who had been on the board for over 10 years. Sure it would be nice if Martz was gone, but it ain't gonna happen. Except it did happen. Jenni Dye won with 55% of the vote.
She credited her volunteers and old-fashioned door-knocking with her victory. She knocked on some 4,000 doors during the campaign. "In the last two weeks, we talked to so many people in Fitchburg," she says. "People in general, given our political climate, were energized so we had a really good turn out. And voters really want people who will listen to them."
It all begins now. Let's make history together.
