Yeah, I'm spamming. I've pimped this had half a dozen times since I put it together on Saturday.
And I'm pimping it again this beautiful Monday morning, start of another work week.
Because I believe it asks an important question. And with story after story tumbling out about Mitt Romney's profit-over-all philosophy of management, I think it's time to ask America, directly.
Do you trust this man?
That's the question I want my countrymen to be mulling over as the lockdown lid of summer falls, about both the Republican nominee and the party itself. Deep down, pushing aside the stories of the day and how you feel about the president and his party, do you really trust this man and the men and women around him to have your interests, your country, as their chief concern?
Or do you suspect that these people don't care one whit for you, literally would not piss on you if you were on fire, unless they could commodify their piss and charge you for the service?
When I put this ad together, I had a sense that it was a good one, because of that question. While I can easily imagine people here, their friends and acquaintances, responding to the question with a boisterous "Hell, no!" I found I could not imagine a single Republican I know responding with an equally spirited, "Hell, yes!"
They don't trust him, either. They may hate Obama, liberals, Pelosi, New York City (except for Ground Zero, praise its holy name), but they don't trust Mitt. They know what he is, a wealth-obsessed, power-obsessed climber who will literally say anything from day to day, hour to hour, audience to audience to get what he wants. They know it.
I'm hoping, by asking, to get them to admit it. If only to themselves.
