So the Supreme court, in its judicial wisdom, decided that the portion of the Arizona Immigration which allows police to ask for "papers please" during routine stops. I personally know people who think that is not only a good idea, but also believe that every State should have the same law. After all, we must find and deport those illegal immigrants!
Here's my question to my friends and everyone else in favor of the "papers please" law: if you are stopped, can you prove your United States citizenship? I already know what your response is: "I don't have to prove it. I was born here!" Okay, but once again, if you have to, if you are stopped by any law enforcement officer, would you have proof that you are a citizen of the United States?
"Don't be ridiculous!" You say. "No one would ever ask me to prove I'm a citizen!" Why not? Because you are white and white people aren't illegal immigrants? But I still want to know if you can prove you are in the United States legally.
You have a driver's license! Not proof! Illegals get driver's licenses.
You have a Social Security Card! Not proof! Illegals sometimes get fake cards.
You have a Birth Certificate! Not proof! Just ask the people who believe President Obama's Birth certificate from Hawaii is fake.
So now tell me again how are you going to prove that you are here legally other than you are white and white people are not illegal immigrants?
