According to today's Daily Mail, Newscorp is considering splitting the business into two new companies, one based on print media, and the other on entertainment interests.
The Murdoch-owned newspaper said the move would carve off the film and television businesses, including 20th Century Fox movie studio, Fox broadcast network and Fox News channel from its newspapers and book publishing assets.
The latter also include the Times and The Sun in London, The Australian newspaper and the HarperCollins book publishing house.

The move is apparently a response to the loss of the BSkyB bid for control of the UK satellite broadcaster, due to the scandal over the phone hacking by the print divisions.
Apparently shares jumped 2.4% on the news of this rumor in Australia.
