I just gave to the Elizabeth Warren campaign anyway -- twelve hours before tonight's June 30th deadline. I can't give seven figures, but I could afford three -- a low three. And if you can't afford that, how about two figures? Or five bucks? Just to say that we are willing to do what we can to fight against our American Democracy being bought out from under us by the Adelsons, Kochs, and their Wall Street allies who loathe Elizabeth and support Scott Brown.
There's something else you can do, too -- a friendraiser.
My wife and I have contacted the Warren campaign and volunteered our house for a friendraiser later in July. My wife has made up invitations that the Warren campaign will send out to folks in our area and that we will also send to friends and neighbors that we think might be willing to help: canvassing, GOTV, or, if they can afford it, donating to the campaign.
But it's NOT a fundraiser! Explicitly not! A campaign representative will be here to give news about the effort, and each person will be asked to say a few words about why they are supporting Elizabeth. But NO ONE will be asked for money.
I urge any reader in MA who is supporting Elizabeth to consider contacting her campaign and volunteer your house (and maybe some wine and beer) for a similar event. It feels good to do it.
But that deadline tonight is very important, too. If you can possibly afford even five bucks, please contribute. The donation site is right here.
And if the Warren campaign sends you an invite to our friendraiser, we'll be delighted to meet you!
