As is the custom, I thought we'd want a place to discuss the Wisconsin recall and the other elections tonight. I'll try to update as much as possible but I'll consider this more of an open thread than a minute-by-minute liveblog.
Link to AP county by county results (h/t to Whitty): http://hosted.ap.org/...
Interesting chart showing current performance compared to what Barrett needs to win (h/t Dave Wasserman): Long story short, not looking good right now. http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/...
9:05: as reported on cnn, initial exits showing 50-50 race. Good sign, especially since they might be reported in our favor as they take into account late voters in Milwaukee and whatnot (Democrats vote late and all).
9:12: Here's a link to TPM's county results for WI-Gov. I'll also add the AP county results when I get it. http://core.talkingpointsmemo.com/...
9:25: early returns are pretty universally underperforming but it's pretty hard to generalize too much since no county has a significant number of votes in.
9:40: things are looking really bad for Barrett at this point. If these results hold up Walker would win by double digits. Hopefully they'll start turning around soon.
9:55: MSNBC calls it for Walker. The polls definitely whiffed on this one. Walker looks to be winning by double digits.
10:00: With Pascrell also winning comfortably in NJ-9 most of the remaining races of interest will be in California. I'm not sure that I'll continue updating after Cali polls close but of course feel free to use this post as an open thread.
10:40: For the record none of the Wisconsin Senate Recalls have any chance of success either at this point. It seems like the Wisconsin recall efforts are pretty definitively over now. Given how badly Barrett underperformed Obama in the exit polls it seems like a large number of Wisconsin voters were voting to object to the process of the recall more than they were voting to support Walker. (UPDATE - I was wrong about the Senate thankfully. That is a nice silver lining to the night at least).
