OK. I'm an old timer. Born in 1936 when Hitler was on the move. Watched my country sink lower and lower after the "Great War". Got involved in the Civil Rights/Anti War movement in 1965 and became a radical. Watched as the imperial nature of my country began to sink in through the patriotic and religious brainwashing of my youth. Now it is 2012 and we are engaged in the regular exercise of burning up time and talent choosing who the next group will be who will pretend to run the show while being servants for the plutocrats . This is an amazing system we have! It works so well for them. But is it my age or do I detect a difference this time? The context is surely changing. The effect of neglect has begun to be something we no longer can deny because we feel it all around. The climate seems to be entering the predicted non-linear phase where effects pile up and snowball. Gridlock has become so farcical that it is hard to believe we are not watching a badly written play. The media is completely in the hands of the plutocrats and everyone still mouths hollow phrases like "free press". So what is different really? I have an idea. Read on below and I'll share it with you.
Could it be that the plutocrats (who are anything but the stupid people many of us like to think they are) are preparing for the ultimate showdown? Could it be that they know that soon the jig will be up and bandaids and all the king's horses and all the king's men won't be able to put the scrambled eggs back into their shells? A lot uf us have had some very telling lessons these last two decades.let's review them
Presidential elections(and others) can be stolen without consequence for the thieves.
The best science we can produce can be discredited if enough money is spent to do it.
The people who preach that government does not work have proved it.
The rich plutocrats can commit huge crimes and end up being rewarded for it
There are too many white males (and other males) who will not give up their power over women
The effect of our lifestyles (yes you and I) is doing us in and we are willing to let it happen rather than change.
Even valiant attempts at protest by groups like the Occupy Movement have more effect on the plutocrats mobilization of a police state than they do on the population as a whole.
The plutocrats are now trying to show us that we are owned. They have the power to buy "free speech" and thereby make it a joke!
There is more. Is it really different now? I think it is. We are about to find out.
