If there were still any doubters after his NAACP race-baiting scam, Mitt Romney's campaign is now playing on Birther fears, and being called out on it by major news organizations.
Romney's association with Donald Trump was bad enough. But this level of racist desperation is a bad turn for our country's dignity in this election year.
From the LA Times:
Romney campaign's attacks on Obama play on 'birther' fears
In remarks that played on debunked assertions about President Obama's birthplace, Mitt Romney on Tuesday said that the current administration resembled foreign governments and one of his chief surrogates said the president needed to "learn how to be an American." ... "The course we're on right now is foreign to us. It changes America," Romney said.
It's sad to see someone like Romney grow up to be exactly the man people thought he might be when he was young. It's sadder when that person's father would be disgusted by the racism.
But it's happened, Romney did it. We shouldn't have any pity for him. Birtherism is the lowest rung on the ladder of desperation for a conservative. Many have enough dignity and honor not to go there. Others, like Mitt Romney don't know the meaning of the words.
