Mitt Romney is not releasing his tax returns and refuses to do so. Many of his surrogates are telling him to release them. Many of them are saying stand your ground. There are also supporters saying, "This isn't fair."
Instead of making a full-throated defense of his own stance, his response has been as follows:
(Crickets chirping)
Then he sends out his wife: Ann Romney.
This is the same Ann Romney who was incredibly offended that someone suggested that being a homemaker was not a real job.
This is the same Ann Romney who owns a very expensive horse that is competing in the Olympics. (Where she finds the time outside of homemaking to manage this is beyond me.)
Ann Romney has tried to provide cover for her husband with the following during an interview with Robin Roberts of "Good Morning, America":
“We’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and how we live our life.”
Nice move, sending your wife out there to do what you should at least try to do yourself.
Let's go back with our Internet machine back to March, 2008. Then Senator Barack Obama was running for President of the United States when a pretty big scandal broke. His former paster Jeremiah Wright made an incendiary speech at the National Press Club. It was a hum-dinger. The right took this and ran with it. "This is proof of how dangerous Barack Obama would be to our nation." and so on and so forth.
The President did not hide behind his wife, Michelle. There were no surrogates that stepped in front of a microphone, fingers pointing saying, "That's not fair." The speech that solved this issue was made by the man himself: Barack Obama. Future President of the United States.

Mitt should watch this.
This is how a real man deals with the issues.
