You really just can't make it up.
On Wednesday, Mitt Romney is holding a fundraiser in beautiful Hamilton, Montana. It costs $50,000 per couple.
Beautiful Ravalli County. Home of the tremendous Bitterroot Mountains, the famous Bitterroot River (one of the four so famously referred to in A River Runs Through It), and the best weather in Montana.
It is also full of interesting characters, such as the gentlemen who trailered an Obama-themed outhouse to the state GOP convention two weeks ago. It probably would have been funnier without the bullet holes.
It's also the home of Jay Printz, the Sheriff who made it all the way to the Supreme Court challenging Congressional authority requiring local law enforcement officers to conduct background checks prior to gun sales. He won.

It's also the home of one the copper barons: Marcus Daly You might be somewhat familiar with Marcus Daly. He was one of the key figures in the story of the Montana Corrupt Practices Act (MCPA). You probably know of the MCPA as the Montana challenge to Citizens United--the challenge which was just summarily reversed by the Supreme Court. If you want to know more, University of Montana Law Professor Larry Howell wrote an article detailing the sordid history leading to the MCPA's creation by citizen initiative.
More recently, sanity has not prevailed. With only a few exceptions, most of the city and county government offices are occupied by all out Tea Partiers. The economy sucks and the housing market is a mess.
On Wednesday, Mitt Romney is having a little party at Marcus Daly's old mansion. He's come to cheer on the starving huddled masses, and right as we gear up to suck the government teet to the tune of tens of millions worth of wildland fire fighting.
Amazingly, two tickets, his and hers (his/his and hers/hers discouraged), can be had for only $50,000. According to the uber-biased census.gov, that's only $6,128 more than the mean household income!
Luckily, cheaper tickets are available:
To attend the reception costs $2,500 per person, or $5,000 for a couple.
It costs $5,000 for a person and $10,000 for a couple to attend the reception and have a photograph taken with Romney, the former Massachusetts governor.
The cost of attending dinner with Romney is $25,000 per person, or $50,000 for a couple.
Charles Schwab, founder of the brokerage company of the same name and a part-time Ravalli County resident, is the event’s sponsor.

In other news, Tester had a get together in Hamilton last weekend. But only cost $50, and I bet the food sucked.
