Greetings, All Michigan/Wisconsin Kossacks who are experts on the land of the Friday night fish fry.
I could use some advice. As a displaced & embittered angry white male I'm tentatively planning to head to Texas to look for work the 2nd week of September. But, I'm clearing out of the marital home (as in the economy tanked, I lose my job, guess I've been a bit of a dick the past few years, and gee what a pleasure to meet your Lawyer, sweetheart) just before Labor Day.
So with a 1+ week gap before I head South and spend some time at Dick Armey re-education Camp No. 14 to learn how to bitch about my taxes and why I need to start packing heat -- I'm heading to pick up a good friend from High School in Kalamazoo and spend 3 days in the Upper Penninsula before circling back to Cleveland for a wedding and heading south.
If you had 2-3 days, a buddy and a fully loaded Honda - where/what would you do on the Kalamazoo/UP/Green Bay/Milwaukee/Chicago circuit?
For example, obviously I'm on a budget but should I suck it up and spend the $150 to take the ferry? Or grab some pizza in Chicago (Cubs are out of town, or it would be a done deal).
Copper mine tour? If so, which one?
I want to swim in all 3 Great lakes up there just for the hell of it.
Should I swing by Green Bay so I can say I went to Lambeau field and ate fried cheese curds?
Unfortunately, can't be in the UP for a Friday night fish fry.
So what do you suggest if you had 3 days and had never been to the UP/Wisconsin?
Appreciate the suggestions.
Bob
