Calling Colorado Kossacks! Here ye! Here ye! In response to suggestions from a couple of you, I'm going to call for a meetup in a couple of weeks. Sunday, September 9th is the first day I've got available on my calendar, so that's what I'd like to use. Please join me over the mound of orange FSM to see what I'm proposing.
Nothing elaborate. We have in the past had some grand parties at Frankenoid's establishment, and I seem to remember Brahman Colorado had a party to celebrate his backyard garden. Not knowing how many folk would like to get together on a Sunday, I'd like to propose two alternatives and have a poll as to which you'd like. I figure starting at 4PM would give people time to watch football and still make it to the party.
Option 1: I offer my house in SW Denver proper for a potluck affair. I'd provide some smoked BBQ and we'd have a diary or two for people to put out what they intend to bring. That way we not only ensure a good variety of foods/drink but also we'd get our taste buds revved up. Hopefully the weather would be good and people can wander around the yard, enjoy the views and even harvest some fruit (the peaches might be ready by then). I do have two hairy (not furry) dogs and a cat, if you have allergies.
Option 2: Clytemnestra suggested the Country Buffet at 301 Englewood Parkway, which is also close to the Englewood Light Rail stop (my house is a couple miles from there) as an alternative. It's about Hampden and Santa Fe / Broadway. She says there's a room that can be reserved for free for a group and people could just pay the regular cost for the dinner and all sit in the reserved room to get to know each other. They're open till 9PM on Sundays.
Please answer the poll and put in any comments/suggestions you might have if there is an even better alternative. Please also let me know if you'll attend and with how many. If you have a desire to make this an action event, like live blogging or some such, put that in the comments as well.
