Where it all went so terribly wrong for America. (1912)
Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association is a crazy person. This is
self-evident, remember his comparing poor Todd Akin to a
victim of rape?
He's also driving Romney to the hard right, because, you know, Romney is afraid of crazy people (but will totally be a tough-ass policy negotiator in the United State's behalf in matters with foreign dictators).
Anyway, today Bryan Fischer posted this very strange observation:
The observation that there's a huge Obama/Romney gender gap is nothing new. But Fischer's choice of words is so very strange. "Women's suffrage?" We're still calling it that? Has Fischer not recovered from his profound disappointment when it was ratified in 1920?
What's the point? That women are keeping Obama in? The implication of course is women's views somehow less valid than men's. Oh no! Obama's getting all sneaky and underhanded, appealing to women voters!
Of course, women are half of the country's population (and conventional wisdom says they're a more dependable GOTV constituency than men). Gosh, what a shame women can vote. Sucks to be Romney, huh?
I suppose once they're done disenfranchising the black and Latinos they can work on Vaginal-Americans next.
Oh, just in case we were confused Fischer followed it up with this:
Oy.
I'd certainly be inclined to ignore this as the ravings of a lunatic, if Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan were not one of the many, many mainstream Republicans lining up to kiss Bryan Fischer's ring at the Values Voter Summit his organization sponsors next month.
Fischer is both a raving lunatic and a powerful force on the Republican party.
Update: Fischer is still digging on his Twitter timeline, going on and on about how women always vote Democrat.
Of course, he is oblivious to the possibility that they do so because women prefer the actual policy positions the Democrats offer, and that the Republican policies that Bryan "no exceptions for rape!" Fischer regularly dictates to his party are just not popular with women.
Update 2: In a nutshell:
Update 3: What it's really all about:
Aw, let me call you a wah-bulence for your suffering male supremacy.
