The rich white folks from the RNC had a pre-convention party at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, so a thousand or so protesters dropped by to say "Hi".
The local Occupy St Pete branch made a coffin and tombstones, dressed in black, and did a "Death of Democracy" funeral at the protest.
Medea Benjamin and Code Pink (in pink) did a "Billionaires for Romney" performance. (The folks in the blue caps and shirt were feds from the Department of Justice who had a brief, uh, discussion with the Code Pink performers.)
The concrete barriers and barbed wire fence was there to keep us ruffians away from the rich and famous. Johnny Law was everywhere, but all was peaceful with no arrests.
I'd estimate the crowd at about a thousand. Several busloads of demonstrators arrived from all over the country--I talked with folks from New York, Oakland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Honolulu, and elsewhere.
