I get soooo sick of reading about idiot Texas politicians, even though I know very well that there numerous good ones representing Texas like Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Austin .
Take Meteor Blades post today about Gov. Rick Perry
Because in Texas, officialdumb [sic] likes executing people. Under Gov. Rick Perry, 244 individuals have been injected with lethal chemicals. And the mental condition of those executed makes no never mind to the guy signing the order, the criminal-injustice system assigning the sentence or the authorities carrying it out.
Makes me want to vomit and give up on politics, but as a true progressive I know I cannot.
Texas Blue
This year we have a chance to turn Texas Blue and re elect Obama.
We also can send a good Democrat to the Senate and keep it Blue as well.
Will you help?
US Senators from Texas
Senator John Cornyn is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a huge supporter of George W. Bush, and critic of President Obama. His most recent lame effort for Texans:
Sen. Cornyn joins Pinterest to hit Obama on 'you didn't build that'
Pffftt. One thing Cornyn said recently that I was glad to see:
Kay-Bailey Hutchison another tired Republican, is retiring Thank God.
Former State Representative Paul Sadler is running for her seat.
My wife and are retired HS teachers from Austin and members of the American Federation of Teachers. Back in the day we lobbied Paul Sadler and others to get the state to fund health care for Texas Teachers and were impressed to learn how much he had done for public education.
Texas Federation of Teachers has this to say in an email today about Paul:
In the Democratic primary runoff for the U.S. Senate, former state Rep. Paul Sadler won by a wide margin. The outcome sets up a stark November contrast. On one side is Sadler, an accomplished legislative problem-solver who patiently built bipartisan coalitions in the Texas House for pre-k funding, extra help for at-risk students, multiple pay raises for teachers, the first-ever state-funded health plan for all active school employees, supplemental pay for all school personnel to make health insurance affordable, teachers’ authority to remove disruptive students, balanced due-process guarantees for educators, and significant property-tax reductions. On the other side is Ted Cruz, a Tea Party favorite without legislative experience or accomplishments who is committed to tearing down public services and promoting an ideological agenda.
He has numerous other endorsements as well.
Paul Sadler also has been involved in Green Energy with the Wind Industry.
I like this tidbit from Politifact:
Paul Sadler says national debt doubled under George W. Bush
PolitiFact - Jul 19, 2012
Paul Sadler answered a debate question June 26, 2012, with a call to stop ... January 20, 2001, to the day President Barack Obama took office, ...
Break the Republican Hold on US Senate Seats !
Please help move Texas Senatorial politics in Washington away from the pure Republican fail it has been for far too many years.
Won't you please consider donating 3 million dollars to send Paul to Washington?
:)
If you can't contribute 3 million, would you at least send $3 to get a Democrat back in the US Senate ? https://secure.actblue.com/page/sadlertx
I know, my little attempt at levity there is not that funny when on realizes that groups have made the US Senate race in TX the most expensive in the country. Still, I believe we could win this.
Sen. Cornyn prods stingy colleagues
The Hill - 5 days ago
Cornyn said he showed colleagues a slide illustrating how much Democratic senators gave compared to Republicans.Twelve of the DSCC's ...
Would really love to see some big DSCC money flow to Sadler now that he has won the Democratic primary!
Thanks for your time.
