With the recent polling starting to show the increased possibility of an Obama landslide over Mitt Romney, it is time to consider that it may benefit some/many Democratic candidates across the country to nationalize their races. The following is one example of how to do that and one that I think would be extremely effective.
A recent study showed the average middle class family would have to pay $2000 more dollars a year with Romney's tax plan. This is a great issue and has already been used by the Obama campaign to draw a contrast between the candidates. It also challenges the Republican myth that they are for cutting taxes and decreasing the deficit.
This issue can be connected directly to the Republican plan to extend the Bush tax cuts. Comparing the Democratic plan and the Republican plan, the Republican plan would automatically add about $2500 dollars to the average family's tax bill. This is because it does not renew the Child Tax Credit like the Democratic plan does, the average family having 2.5 children. You combine the Republican Congress' plan with that of Mitt Romney's plan and you have nearly $5000 dollars a year that the average family would have to pay in addition to their current tax bill. Someone with more knowledge than me might have to look at this a little more critically as I don't know if the recent study excludes the Republican Congress' plan from their analysis.
Anyway, there is your way to nationalize select races:
"Mitt Romney wants to raise your taxes and if __Republican__ is elected, he will raise them even more. If Mitt Romney and Republicans in congress have their way, they will raise the average family's taxes by nearly $5000 a year."
"Can you afford $5,000 more a year in taxes?"
