Extremism is based on the simple principle that vulnerabilities in a society can be exploited for gain.
An unstable or emerging nation can be seriously undermined by violence and instability. Any void in leadership is then filled in part or in whole by the extremists. That's it.
Mitt Romney and Bain Capital were in the business of identifying companies which could be exploited. In some respects, their job was to find a way into vulnerable situations and advance their agenda, money. In this case, he is interjecting himself into an unstable region rather than an unstable company. He seeks to advance another agenda besides money, ambition. But just like at Bain, exploitation often leads to unseemly practices and partnerships.
Like most political aspirants, someone who is in the business of extremism would covet a good and effective lobbyist. But rather than this lobbyist forming advocacy groups to petition government or using connections and money to gain influence, the extremist surrogate helps to create the very conditions that extremists would need to thrive.
Someone like Pastor Terry Jones is nothing more than an extremist lobbyist. He is a vital and completely necessary cog in the playbook. It is his responsibility to give cover and reason for violence. The same is true of whoever published the recent internet movie that has caused the recent attacks on our embassies and consulates. The movie was an insult to people of faith. But to extremists it was nothing more than a George Foreman Grill purchased from amazon and expeditiously shipped by overnight delivery. Just like the Grill, it made their life just so much easier. Simply a terrific product.
This is common sense. Everyone knows it. Terry Jones knows it. The producer of the movie knows it. Their aim is clear. To foster and create instability and advance the extremist agenda.
Now people like Terry Jones are vile and completely anti-muslim. They would kill each and every one if they could. But that is not inconsistent with their support of the current extremist violence. It is in fact viciously consistent with creating and perpetrating violence against innocent muslims. Politics makes strange bedfellows or something like that. Incitement to violence can achieve both goals of creating power vacuums and savaging innocent people. At this point distinguishing between the client and customer gets difficult. We just know they are both satisfied. One has a power vacuum. The other has dead and maimed innocent people of a different faith.
I know Mitt Romney knows this. I know he is not ignorant. He is indifferent. He has scrutinized the balance sheet. He has decided there is political equity to be gained. It is time to get involved.
Thus, he will not stand behind the commander in chief as he tries to stabilize regions of the world under extremist attacks. He will not comfort his own nation by assuring that he will leave politics at the water's edge. He vigorously defends the rights of Terry Jones and others to express speech when he knows full well these events are not First Amendment issues. He is indifferent. He knows full well that he is essentially embracing the obvious and clear strategy of Terry Jones working with extremists to incite violence and harm innocents.
Mitt Romney is helping perpetuate extremist violence. He has added a new product for extremists to purchase. Now not only can you purchase Terry Jones' vileness for the low price of_____. But we'll also throw in Mitt Romney. He'll agree to undermine whatever efforts the commander in chief makes at restoring stability and pushing back against extremist violence. Sorry to be so blunt but he has truly partnered with Jones and extremists. Nothing more than a standard deal like the ones he did at Bain Capital. There's no equity investment. He'll borrow against the credibility and stability of the United States as a government of good intentions. He'll outsource the work to cheap and violently angry labor in unstable regions. And he'll layoff(or in this case injure or kill) innocent people and their families. He has leveraged our Country and the lives of innocents against his ambition to be President. And just like all the deals at Bain, he is indifferent as to all the consequences except one. His own. In his defense, he may be so indifferent that he may be, to some degree, indifferent to what he is actually doing. But holy shit.
