I met Sharon by paying for her lifetime Dkos subscription. As I was going down the list of those requesting help, glbtvet kept calling to me. Sharon is a Vietnam Vet. We have had an online friendship since that time. She has shared with me just a little bit of the struggle she and her fiance, Sydney, have been experiencing.
UPDATED: Thank you so much for all that you have sent. Sharon and Sydney were able to get Syd's meds and will pay AT&T tomorrow to keep their cell phones. If you can still send something through PayPal, they can breath easier next month. They are hoping that by November their financial situation may be resolved but one never knows because of how they've been stonewalled before. http://www.dailykos.com/...
More below the squiggle.
Sharon is a disabled Vietnam vet and has had to fight the vagaries of the V.A. to get the help she needs. Living in Ohio, many are not friendly or open to helping a transgender vet, and she doesn't always get the assistance necessary. Sydney has been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of months and hasn't been able to work. Her insurance covers the hospitalization but not prescription drugs when she's out. Gotta love the for-profit insurance companies - NOT!
They've had a streak of bad luck. When Sydney was coming home from the last hospitalization, a tire blew. $75.00 was enough to put them over the financial edge. Sharon sent me an email this morning telling me to "take care" because they are going to have to let go of the internet and cell phones.
I helped them out a little bit last month to make sure Sydney had the prescription drugs she needed when she got out of the hospital. but, Sydney had to go back into the hospital again. Now, I'm coming to the community to help them out a little bit more.
They need donations of $3.00 - $5.00. If you can send Sharon funds through Paypal, every little bit can add up to the $300 - $500 they need to make all their ends meet this month. If they get a little more, maybe they can breath a little easier, have a little less stress, and Sydney can stay home!
Sharon's email address is gensha_2006@sbcglobal.net.
Thanks folks for anything you can do help my friend.
