This was the Palin moment - when the audience roars in laughter at the parody of a presidential candidate, you know they're done. And they nailed the fundamental awkwardness of Romney tonight and Ryan's lies. It was brutal: started slow and then built on itself and killed them. Romney came off as empty and awkward as Palin came off dense. I had to watch several times and thought to myself immediately that if the Romney/Ryan campaign was watching (and they were), they knew without a shadow of a doubt that they were finished. They were the butt of a joke that everyone knows is true: no matter how unhappy you might be with Obama, seriously, this is the alternative? It's hopeless.
I already knew that Romney was going to lose (for months now). I now know that they will lose with people laughing at them. And given the behavior out of that campaign in the last few months, that's sweet indeed.
