Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though. |
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, read this diary and visit the Guild web site to put in an application. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome. |
More below the fold:
For this week only (down to five days as I type this) the first scenario, Theramore's Fall, is available in the Looking for Dungeon queue.
This is a three-person scenario designed to be playable by any three classes with an average item level of 353 or higher. It has a chance to drop some ilvl 384 gear, some fireworks, and a Theramore tabard for Alliance and some crappy little mini-bomb doohickey for Horde. No, not bitter at all, why do you ask?
My experiences running this have been mixed. My raid-geared main roflstomped it and, in Blood spec and tanking gear, could probably solo it. My mage had a few entertaining moments and died a couple times from pulling aggro, but once I learned to lean on Temporal Shield and Ring of Frost it didn't go too badly.
My Alliance priest alt had a terrible, terrible time on it as Shadow, but only died once and topped the DPS meters as Disc. Return of Moody's SmiteDPS spec!
Note that I'm not talking about the lore. This is because it really helps if you've read Tides of War, and I have no intention of ever doing so. The few World of Warcraft novels I've read have impressed upon me the necessity of avoiding encouraging them further as much as possible. Anyway, like doing quests just accept that you have no idea what you're doing or why you're doing it so badly and move on.
(As an aside, this is why I'd love a true persistent world game that would let us come up with our own ways to fulfill the broad storylines, like paper-and-pencil roleplaying. Maybe in another twenty years we'll have the processing power to do this.)
Anyway, you're supposed to be able to run the scenario over and over to gear up or collect fireworks. Might be something to do for the last few days before MoP, though the alts that I have that need gear don't have the ilvl to get into the scenario.
No reports this week, though a large fraction of Team RubiPam did get Glory of the Cataclysm Raider last night. Next week, Pandapocalypse! For the Horde!
