Of course, the first place we went when we arrived at the stadium was to find the Trees - this is Tommy and Mommy in standing by one of the freshly planted trees :)
Here's the family once we're in the stadium at our seats - with the field in the background. A special thank you to our benefactor who provided the tickets - they were great seats and we had a wonderful time. (Little one IS wearing blue, but it was raining, so he was wearing his National's rain jacket - Let's-GO-NATS!)
A view of the student section - you can see how effective the blue out was by the bright "S" for Student Section emblazoned in a sea of blue. (The other white section to the left is where the band is - and they were AMAZING both before the game and at halftime!)
Thank you Penn State for continuing to keep this very important cause on everyone's lips. Your continued emphasis on child abuse prevention shows again the great leadership qualities your university stands for.
The boys and I arrived last night to attend the Blue Out game today at Penn State. We are staying at one of the B&Bs I stayed at last time so I could show them where Mommy lived for 2 weeks this summer.
And this morning, I awake to this headline in the Centre Daily Times Newspaper:
Jerry Sandusky Trial Transcripts Released Online
With trepidation, I opened up the links to the actual transcripts and there it was, in black and white, the names of every victim.
I am troubled by this. I know they said they would have to state their name for the record, but these boys have been through so much - and none of this was their fault. And now, they awake this morning, the day of the Blue Out game to raise awareness for childhood sexual abuse - to find their names plastered all over the internet.
To the young men I say stand tall. I know how scary this is and I know what kind of pain you must be going through but please know that there are millions of us out here who stand staunchly behind you, supporting you every step of the way.
What you did in that courtroom has given voice to so many victims and has allowed us to speak out about our own abuse, sometimes 30 years later.
You are heroes in my book and I will only ever look at you with pride and admiration.
I am a victim/survivor of childhood sexual abuse. My name is Roxine Renee Behrens and I am NOT ashamed.
