Here in Massachusetts we are being deluged by ads for Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren. The number and cost of these hundreds of ads point out the national importance that this Massachusetts senatorial race holds. For the Republicans, keeping Brown in office is critical to maintain the number of Republicans in the Senate and also for the psychological points of having a Republican senator in otherwise solid blue Massachusetts.
Brown is bending over backwards to distance himself from the Republican party; notice his absence from the Republican convention. And all things being equal, wearing a purple coat, he has done a creditable job in office, but all things are not equal.
The importance of electing Elizabeth Warren ( I am always tempted to refer to her as "Professor Warren, a title she should wear proudly) goes far beyond her potential service to Massachusetts. She has already proven her credentials as a defender of middle class Americans. Her work in setting up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has produced outstanding results recently when it forced the vulturous credit card companies to pay back $millions to ripped-off Americans. What member of Congress can point to something as definitive in protecting the financial well-being of his/her constituents?
By your enemies so shall you be known. Warren's enemies are well known. They are the fat-cats of Wall Street who consider Warren a dangerous opponent who stands between them and their ill-gotten $billions. Proof: the millions Wall Street is pouring into ads to defeat Warren. Work and vote for Elizabeth Warren because her importance in defending the financial well-being of all Americans goes far beyond her importance to just Massachusetts.
