Seattle. January 5, 2013.
Cold in Seattle early this week, with the neighboring rooftops frost-bright in moonlight and icy morning roads. There's still a thin film of ice in the shallows of the Wetland pond, and a crust of barely frozen mud along its edges.
On Tuesday, the first Red-winged Blackbird of the season called out against a cold blue sky.
