Short diary - wanted to let you know about a great chance for easy action, expiring soon! Until Jan. 29 (tomorrow), public comments and Voices of Support are being accepted on the draft Next Generation Science Standards. These standards are being developed by the National Research Council (NRC), the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and Achieve, with close input from 26 lead states. The standards will update the documents from the NRC and AAAS that have been used by states to craft science curriculum for the past 15 years, and they include updated scientific findings on many topics, including climate change.
These standards will hopefully become the new basis for K-12 science education across the country. If you care about a scientifically literate American public, then comment - or simply add your name to their Voices of Support.
Making comments and/or voicing support for these standards, we think, is basically the antidote to that plan by the Heartland Institute to pollute our science classrooms with pseudoscience about climate change. (What, you forgot about that and/or thought we were just joking in our Climate Denier Style music video?)
Act now to support science education!
