Boaz, Ala. -- A 30-year-old man was accidentally shot dead while playing a game of quick-draw with several people at an automotive shop last Thursday. The gun, a .40-caliber Glock, was thought to be unloaded.
Midland City, Ala. -- Yesterday, a 65-year-old man fatally shot a 66-year-old school bus driver before taking a 6-year-old boy from the bus as a hostage and retreating to an underground bunker on his property. Police have been negotiating with the man for about 24 hours by talking through a pipe that goes into the bunker.
Autaugaville, Ala. -- A man was killed in a hunting accident Monday evening. His body was found by members of his hunting party after an afternoon of hunting. It appears the man’s firearm accidentally discharged due to some sort of issue with his tree stand.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 15-year-old girl was fatally shot and a 16-year-old boy was wounded about 2:20 p.m. yesterday while hanging out with friends at a park shortly after completing their high-school exams. Police say 10 to 12 teens were under a canopy during a rainstorm when a male opened fire as he ran toward the group. The shooter then fled in a car. The boy was in serious condition. Last week the girl had performed as a majorette with the school’s band and drill-team at the inauguration of President Obama.
Parsippany, N.J. -- On Monday, a 46-year-old retired police officer fatally shot his 43-year-old wife before killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot.
Las Vegas, Nev. -- Police responding to reports of gunshots at a home about 4:20 p.m. yesterday found two women and a man dead and another man wounded. The wounded man is in critical condition. Police believe a domestic dispute led to the shooting.
Waldorf, Md. -- Police called to a house about 8:20 p.m. yesterday found a woman dead who had apparently turned a gun on herself after shooting and critically wounded her husband. Both are believed to be in their 60s. The man is in critical condition.

Plymouth, Mass. -- A police officer’s .357 revolver is missing after he inadvertently left it in a courthouse bathroom. The officer was at lunch when he realized his gun was missing, but it was gone by the time he returned to the bathroom. Police swept the courthouse and surrounding grounds but it was not found.

Lilburn, Ga. -- A 22-year-old man was fatally shot about 10 p.m. Saturday after the GPS in his car directed him to the wrong driveway as went to pick up a girl who lived in the area to go ice skating. On seeing the car in his driveway, a 69-year-old man suspected a home invasion, so he got a gun from his house and shot it in the air, then he shot at the car as it was leaving, killing the victim. The victim’s 15-year-old brother and a female were also in the car, but not hit. The shooter was charged with murder.
Silver City, N.M. -- A 32-year-old woman died after she shot herself in the head at a hospital emergency room late Thursday. She had been transported there by ambulance after her mother reported she was suicidal. She leaves behind a husband and three children.
Newport Beach, Calif. -- A doctor was fatally shot in an examination room of a medical office. Police responding about 2:45 p.m. yesterday to reports of six or seven gunshots found the victim with multiple wounds in the upper torso. Police believe it was an isolated incident. A suspect in the same room was taken into custody

Batesville, Miss. -- A bullet hit a school bus yesterday, striking a second-grade student in the back. Witnesses say the child was able to walk, but no other medical details were available.
Lady Lake, Fla. -- A 24-year-old woman driving her 4-year-old daughter to preschool about 8:10 a.m. yesterday was wounded when a man believed to be in his 20s approached her car at a stop sign and fired a single shot, striking her in the torso. The victim was in stable condition. The child was not hurt.
Macon, Ga. -- Outside a recreation center last night, after a basketball game, a disgruntled fan shot one of the players, striking the victim in the thigh. The player was being treated at a local hospital.
St. Louis, Mo. -- A 77-year-old man was shot about 8:10 p.m. yesterday as he sat in front of his home with another man. Police say a gunman appeared and started firing, hitting the victim in the chest, stomach, and leg. He was listed in serious condition but is expected to survive.
Waterbury, Conn. -- An 18-year-old was shot in the ankle and a 26-year-old was shot in the back Sunday night. Police are looking for the shooter. The injuries were not consider life threatening.

Seattle, Wash. -- A man entered a bar about 10:15 p.m. last night and shot his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend and an employee in his 30s who tried to intervene. More than two-dozen patrons were in the bar when the man opened fire. Police responded and shot the gunman, killing him, when he fired at officers. The two victims are expected to recover.

Penn Hills, Penn. -- Overnight Friday, two men -- one with a handgun; the other with an assault-type rifle -- burst into a home with a dozen people inside, including a 3-year-old girl. The man with the rifle fired several rounds up a staircase while the man with the handgun fired it until empty, then he reloaded and continued firing. No one in the house was directly hit, although one person was treated for a fragment wound in the arm. The gunmen fled the house after one of them was shot in the face, possible inadvertently by his partner, and the other one accidentally shot himself in the thigh.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- Shots were fire at a popular rap artist and his girlfriend as he drove his car about 5:30 a.m. today, causing him to crash the vehicle into a building. Witnesses say dozens of shots were fired, some of then hitting nearby stores, but none hit the car. No one was reported injured.

Center Township, Penn. -- In an apparent murder-suicide, a 45-year-old woman was found fatally shot outside her home, and her 49-year-old husband was found inside the home, dead from a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Police suspect the woman was putting personal items in her car and about to leave when he fired a shotgun, striking her in the head and upper torso.

Charenton, La. -- A tribal police officer was fatally shot and two sheriff's deputies critically wounded today when they responded to a fire at a home and encountered gunfire there from an unidentified man. The alleged shooter was arrested. No word on the condition of the wounded deputies.
Hammond, La. -- A 23-year-old male graduate student at a local university was found shot to death in his apartment about 2:15 p.m. today.
St. Louis, Mo. -- About 4:50 p.m. yesterday, a 28-year-old man was fatally shot and three men wounded as the four of them drove in a car after leaving a post-funeral meal for a man shot and killed about two weeks ago. Police say the shots yesterday came from a vehicle with perhaps four men inside. They think one of the suspects had an AK-47 rifle. Those wounded were expected to survive.
Polk County, Ore. -- Police have determined that a woman found dead in a vehicle at a park-and-ride lot about 12:15 p.m. Thursday had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Memphis, Tenn. -- Two teenagers, ages 15 and 17, were found shot at a community-center parking lot shortly after 2:35 p.m. yesterday. Both were hospitalized in critical condition.
Orlando, Fla. -- A 15-year-old boy was shot in his lower back while riding a bicycle about 7 p.m. yesterday. Polices say the gunshot probably came from a passing car. No report on the victim’s condition.
Inkster, Mich. -- A third-grade student bought a loaded semiautomatic handgun to school in his backpack yesterday because he was being bullied. The school principal was tipped off about 8:30 a.m. yesterday that the boy was on his way to school with the gun and officials were able to meet him at the front entrance. The gun belongs to a member of the boy’s family.

Monitor Township, Mich. -- A 51-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were found shot to death inside a home about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. The two were engaged to be married. Police suspect a murder-suicide.
Clayton County, Ga. -- A taxi driver was found fatally shot inside his cab at a condominium complex about 1:30 a.m. this morning.
Denver, Col. -- Police called to an apartment complex about 5:50 a.m. yesterday found a woman shot dead and a man with multiple stab-wounds. The man is in a local hospital. Investigators are not looking for any suspects.
Washington, D.C. -- An 18-year-old woman was found fatally shot in the head around 3:30 a.m. today. She was lying on the sidewalk in front of a bus stop.
Clearwater, Fla. -- A male and female were found dead from gunshot wounds at an apartment complex Thursday. A neighbor said she thought the man was in his 40s and the woman in her 30s. Another neighbor was told by police that they suspect a murder-suicide.
Madison, Wis. -- Police say a 34-year-old man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home hours after they discovered his 31-year-old estranged wife was the victim of a homicide. Police suspect a murder-suicide. The couple’s divorce was scheduled to be finalized today.
New Orleans, La. -- Police say the 25-year-old owner of an auto-repair shop was likely justified when he fatally shot a 28-year-old man who had made threats and pointed a pistol at him. The victim had come to the shop with a friend who was having a dispute of some sort with the owner about repair work recently done on the friend’s car.
Dayton, Ohio -- A 34-year-old man fatally shot his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend and a 29-year -old man at an apartment early Thursday. The woman’s 10-year-old son saw the shooting and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911. The suspect was later arrested.
Charlotte, N.C. -- One person was shot and killed about 5:45 a.m. today.
Laveen, Ariz. -- A 41-year-old man and his girlfriend were found dead inside a home following a several-hours-long standoff with police yesterday morning. Nine shots were fired during the incident, none by police. They are not looking for any suspects.
Camden, N.J. -- An 11-year-old girl was shot in the face by her 27-year-old father in her home about 9:30 p.m. yesterday. The father then tried to shoot a 28-year-old man who was also in the house, but the gun jammed. The man managed to get the gun and fire it at the father, hitting him in the buttocks. The father fled on foot but was later arrested. The girl is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.
Akron, Ohio -- A 59-year-old woman driving her car was shot in the shoulder. The incident happened after she came upon two men walking in a street and she flashed her headlights at them as a warning she was coming. The men moved to the side of the street but, as she drove past, one of them shot at her several times. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Vancouver, Wash. -- A man was shot more than once inside an apartment after an intruder entered it about 1 a.m. this morning. The victim and occupants of the apartment managed to get out. Police are looking for the suspect.
Oakland, Calif. -- A gunman opened fire on a man pumping gas at a service station about 11 a.m. today, missing the man but hitting his car and a city bus a block away, showering the passengers with broken glass. A woman pumping gas at the time also had her car hit.
Miami, Fla. -- A mother of two was shot in the face during a robbery outside a restaurant about 5:30 p.m. yesterday. A 20-year-old man has been arrested. The woman said the suspect approached at gunpoint and demanded her purse. When she handed it over, the suspect shot her and fled on foot. The woman is in stable condition.
Miami Gardens, Fla. -- A 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder while sitting on bench waiting for a bus about 8:15 p.m. yesterday. He was in stable condition.
Trenton, N.J. -- Shots were fired and a man was hit in the arm in front of a convenience store about 1 p.m. today. The man was gone when police arrived. They will be checking local hospitals.
St. Paul, Minn. -- A 51-year-old man threatened his 15-year-old daughter by pointing an AK-47 rifle at her because the girl’s school report-card included two B's rather than straight A's. He also pointed the gun at his wife during the incident, which occurred January 17, but has just come to light. The father said the gun wasn't loaded and he had checked the chamber beforehand.
Salt Lake City, Utah -- No one was injured when a guard for a private security firm accidentally discharged his weapon about noon Sunday while working at the main public library downtown. The gun went off when the guard was in a first-floor security office and before the library was opened to the public. The bullet went through two walls and embedded in a third.

Kansas City, Mo. -- A 93-year-old man shot and killed and his 95-year-old wife before attempting unsuccessfully to take his own life with a knife about 7 a.m. yesterday. The couple had been arguing. The man is in serious but stable condition. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
Seminole, Texas -- After a two-hour standoff, police found a man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident began as a domestic disturbance between the man and his wife in their house.
Atlanta, Ga. -- A 25-year-old man was fatally shot about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. The incident started with a fist fight between two groups Tuesday night. The fight broke up, but the groups met again a few house later and a shot was fired striking the victim in the back and head.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 35-year-old man who was shot on a street shortly after 6 p.m. last night was pronounced dead about four hours later at a local hospital. Police say two men exited a vehicle and one of them opened fire, hitting the victim at least five times.
Joliet, Ill. -- A 24-year-old man was fatally shot outside his house and a 23-year-old man was seriously wounded as they were getting into a car about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. They were struck by bullets fired from a passing vehicle.
Trenton, N.J. -- A man was found fatally shot in the head inside a home about 7:30 p.m. yesterday.
Clare County, Mich. -- A 68-year-old man was found fatally shot in his home last Friday. A 32-year-old woman was in custody.
Indianapolis, Ind. -- A man was fatally shot about 5:15 p.m. yesterday. He was hit four times.
Syracuse, NY -- The 77-year-old baseball coach at a college preparatory school was shot about 7:30 p.m. yesterday during a holdup at a liquor store that has been part of the man’s family for more than 60 years. He was shot in the eye and is listed in serious condition.
Pittsburgh, Penn. -- A man apparently attempting to rob a home was shot and killed about 6 p.m. yesterday. A young man who lived at the home answered a knock at the door to see a masked man holding a gun. When the young man tried to close the door, the gunman fired a shot through the door, grazing the resident in the head. A friend of the resident then grabbed his own gun and shot the masked man.
Fountain, Col. -- A 3-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the foot after finding a handgun in the bedroom of his parents.
Birmingham, Ala. -- A 20-year-old man was shot in the head as he drove along a street about 5 p.m. yesterday. He is expected to survive.
Savannah, Ga. -- A man was shot once at an apartment complex Wednesday evening. Police say an altercation with an acquaintance led to the shooting. His injuries were not life-threatening.
San Diego, Calif. -- A male was found shot about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday outside an apartment building. His condition was reported as life threatening.
New Orleans, La. -- A woman was shot in the abdomen and a man shot in the arm around 5:30 p.m. yesterday. No report yet on their condition.
Chicago, Ill. -- A 38-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 30-year-old man was shot in the arm about 9 p.m. yesterday. They were listed in good condition at a local hospital.
Amarillo, Texas -- After driving to a motel parking lot about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man got out of his vehicle and shot through the window of an unoccupied room. Police are investigating.
Longmont, Col. -- A man told police on Jan. 16 that he had lost his .380 semi-automatic pistol while riding his motorized scooter through a neighborhood. That prompted police to search his route in hopes of finding the gun, but the effort was unsuccessful. Yesterday, the man contacted police to say he found the gun between some couch cushions in his home.
Augusta, Kan. -- A couple who operated a combined gun store and beauty shop pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations yesterday. The man, 51-years-old, pleaded guilty to one count of dealing firearms without a license; his 42-year old wife pleaded guilty to one count of failing to keep records of firearms transactions.
