This is an active petition I just wrote at the "We The People" White House site, and I need 150 signatures before they make it public on their site - anyone willing to sign or share the link further, please check below. Thanks.
Ask Joe Biden, as President of the Senate, to change rules to allow 51 senators to confirm all presidential appointees.
The U.S. government is unable to move forward in the courts and in many agencies because of several unfilled vacancies. Many of these have been held up due to obstructionist tactics in the Senate. Because of convoluted partisan considerations, political agreements have further tied the hands of the Senate leaders and this keeps many of these vacancies from a simple up or down vote on the senate floor.
We ask that Vice President Biden, as President of the Senate, simply and diplomatically sidestep these complications and very publicly take charge of a senate rules change to arrange for a simple up or down vote, requiring a 51 vote majority approval for all open vacancies, effective immediately.
This would allow the leadership of the Senate to continue legislating...
